What is ElevenLabs?

ElevenLabs is a voice AI platform with one API for text-to-speech, speech-to-text, voice cloning, dubbing, sound effects and music. Developers call it over REST or the official SDKs. The same account also covers the web app (ElevenCreative) and voice agents (ElevenAgents).

Pricing

ElevenLabs has two price lists. Which one applies depends on how you use it.

Plans give a monthly credit pool that every product in the web app draws from. Prices as of October 11, 2026:

Enterprise is priced on request. Yearly billing costs ten months. The Free plan has no commercial licence; that starts on Starter, together with instant voice cloning. Professional voice cloning starts on Creator.

API usage is billed in dollars per model. A plan's price works as an API allowance at these rates: Starter's $6 covers 75,000 characters on Eleven v3, for example. Usage past the allowance is pay-as-you-go.

Other API rates: speech-to-text (Scribe v2) $0.22 per hour, or $0.39 per hour in realtime. Music $0.15 per minute. Sound effects, voice changer and voice isolator $0.12 per minute. Automatic dubbing $0.33 per minute with a watermark and $0.50 without; Dubbing v2 is $2.20 per minute.

Things to check before you build on it

Latency figures are ElevenLabs' own. Measure from your region with your own text before committing an agent to a model.
Character limits differ per model. Long-form audio on v3 needs splitting into 5,000-character requests.
Credits roll over for up to two months on paid plans, capped at 3x the monthly quota. Downgrading or cancelling forfeits them at the end of the cycle.
Compliance: Enterprise adds BAAs for HIPAA, custom SSO and custom DPA/SLA terms. Scribe v2 Medical is HIPAA-eligible with a zero-retention mode.
Startups can apply for a grant of 12 months and 33M characters for building voice agents.
