Direct alternatives to Hugging Face

Hugging Face bundles a model hub, datasets, Inference Providers (a router across Together, Fireworks, Replicate, etc), Inference Endpoints, Spaces, and the transformers library. Most teams do not replace all of it. Common pieces to peel off:

• Inference: Together AI, Fireworks AI, DeepInfra, OpenRouter. Note that HF's Inference Providers tier routes to several of these, so going direct often just removes a layer.
• Hosting and demos: Modal, Replicate, Baseten for production inference, or RunPod for raw GPU rental.
• Running models locally: Ollama, LM Studio, Jan, GPT4All for desktop, or vLLM for self-hosted GPU serving.
• Fine-tuning: Axolotl, Unsloth, LLaMA-Factory, or hosted pipelines on Together AI and Modal.
